It's a Mouse Thing

Happy Sunday!!  Another nice, relaxing day!
This morning I worked on a page with a sketch from Sketches in Thyme.
I made a Mickey Mouse head shaker box, using a few beads, glitter and Mickey body part brads.  I flattened the backs of the brads to keep the movement inside the shaker.

Here is the original sketch:

Meeting Stitch

Hello again!  It's going to be a beautiful weekend here!  Cooler temps and nothing on the schedule!
I should be able to spend a lot of time at my desk!

Here is a page I made....

using this sketch from Let's Get Sketchy:

I love this line of papers from Photoplay!
The leaves were hand cut by me.  :)
This is one of my most favorite pictures from this trip.

America the Beautiful

One of our favorite parts of Disney is The World Showcase.  The older the kids get, the more we can explore, enjoy and learn.

Not that they haven't experienced America enough but here we are at the American Adventure:

I used this fun sketch from Sketch N Scrap:

The accordion flowers are from a kit from Little Yellow Bicycle.
Those awesome resin Mickey heads were found on Ebay!  They are sooo cool!

A Trip to Remember

Hello there!  I was able to find some time after work today to play at my desk.

To start, I used the right side of the 2 page sketch from Let's Scrap:

I have had this map holder/ pocket thing in the stash for a very long time.
I slipped in a copy of the map to the Magic Kingdom.
I also added a list of our Top 5 things to do in the MK.
The tag was a leftover piece that's been round for a very long time also.
The wooden Mickey head pieces are from Michael's.
And then a few random buttons found their way onto the page.

Now Showing...

Winding down for the day...

I love how this one turned out!

I forgot I had film strip washi tape!  So excited to remember it was in the stash!
I also had the large kraft stars with gold dots hiding around.
The film pieces - the camera, film can and clapboard were found on the internet, resized, printed and hand cut.

My favorite piece is the shaker box of course.  I used Stickles on the top frame - and had to wait forever for it to dry!
My filler consisted of:
gold glitter
white micro beads
black micro beads
tiny white star confetti
and a mickey head confetti piece.

For my starting inspiration, I used sketch #333 from Sketches In Thyme.
It started out looking like the sketch, but then the elements just seemed to have a mind of their own.

Our Favorite Resort

Here are a few more pictures of our favorite resort at Disney World:

I hand cut all of my elements from the Aloha Polynesia collection from Kellybells
I also added some paper flowers and strip of bamboo (found at a scrapbook convention years ago) and a couple of hidden Mickey's.\

I used this sketch from Sketchabilities:

Hollywood Studios 2017

One of the hardest things for me to do is get a good picture of a page that has a lot of shimmer, glitter, sparkle...

Here is a page where I used bits of gold holographic paper, gold Mickey head confetti, and gold wooden star elements...

And in my picture it is sooooo hard to tell!!

I used this sketch from Let's Get Sketchy:

I also added some chipboard film strip elements - colored with black markers.

Pandora

Good rainy morning!  I finally found some time to get back to my desk and work on some pages.

Here is my first for the day:

This was our first time to see Pandora.  The scenery was really beautiful!

I used this sketch from Sketches in Thyme #332:

I chose a stack from Colorbok for this page.  All of my flowers were hand cut from the patterned papers.  I added some leaves to give it a bit of a Pop.

Smile - Happy - Bliss

Good afternoon!  It's another scorcher here in Chicago!  So I am hiding (again) in the house, enjoying the AC, popsicles and nice cold drinks - while I work on vacation pictures.

Today, I worked on CSI Case #257:

And here is how I chose to solve the case:

I probably switched out the papers on this one about a dozen times before I felt happy with the final combination.

Here is my case study:

Evidence:

Floral pattern ( papers)
Stripes (papers)
Flowers and leaves
Banner
Tissue Paper ( flowers)
String (for the banner)
Tiny Brads ( on banner and center of flowers)

Testimony:

I used a couple different words in my banner

The Scheme:

Seafoam green
Lemony Yellow
White
Black
Carnation Pink

Off to get another popsicle!

Surf's Up!

I so wish we were in Typhoon Lagoon right now!

Here is another summery page I made for Rochelle's challenge:

Here is her sketch challenge - with the added challenge of using striped papers:

I used scraps for this whole page!
And a strip of striped paper behind my photos.

The flowers are a mix of stickers and Mickey head buttons.

Splashdown!

It's so hard to get good pictures of your kids coming down the water slides!

Here is a big splash - with one of my kids in the middle....lol

I pulled out all of my pictures from our trip to Typhoon Lagoon.  Since it's still around 100 degrees outside and most of our time will be spent in the pool, I thought summer/swimming/water pics were appropriate to work on.

Scrap our Stash is having a 500 days of Summer challenge.  So I chose a good subject to work on this weekend!  We had to make sure we added a sun somewhere on our page:

Here is the sketch from Sketch N Scrap #156:

I used a few pieces of 6x6 patterned papers.
The alligator and title were handcut from a digital kits from Kellybells Designs.
My "hidden" Mickey's aren't so hidden in this page...lol

Catch the Wave

Happy Saturday!!  It's only 102 degrees outside!  Not bad..considering the heat index yesterday was 115!
Needless to say, I have been at my desk scrapping allll day.  It's way too hot to venture outside.

The July challenge from More Than Words was to be inspired by the word "beach" and "seashells".  We also were challenged to add seashells on our project somewhere.

Here is the challenge board:

I had lots of pictures from our trip to Typhoon Lagoon in Disney, so I worked on this sketch from Sketches in Thyme:

And came up with this page:

I reversed the center of beach text paper.
I hand cut a circle and used inks on it, but didn't like the coloring so I went over it with markers.  Still not happy with it...
The chipboard circles are from Creative Embellishments.
I used 2 different ink on them to get a color close to what I was looking for.
I then added some fun wave and seashells stickers from Jolee's.
The font on the letter stickers is one of my favorites!
I wish I could find more like that!

I'm happy with the results - but it also reminded me that i need to shop for more colors in inks and markers.
